Goodbye…for now

With the busyness of homeschooling, the adoption process, and just life in general, I will not be taking anymore clients at this time. I am so grateful for all of my friends that I have made over the years while designing blogs.

God Bless!

Homeschool Blogger Templates

Yesterday while surfing the Wordless Wednesday blogs, I was thrilled to see my blog template being used on a number of blogs over at Homeschool blogger.  It’s nice to see what kind of creative things people can do with it.

One thing though, I do want to mention to anyone who does download and use my HSB template.  I noticed that on the majority of the templates, my credit was removed and the designer of the blog took all the credit for themselves.  It took me a long time to get the template just right so it would be easy to use, and easy to navigate.  I would appreciate my credit being left on, or if it’s not on there, please add it.

I am working hard trying to raise funds and get the word spread about our adoption.  Any links out there help direct traffic back to this site.

(Bahamahomeschooler: Just one of my wonderful friends on HSB!)

Keep on using my template! It is free to use.  I  just appreciate links back and credit given.

This is how you can tell if your blog designer has used my template.  It is a very plain template that has the words td.leftside, td.rightside, and td.middle used in the css.  Also, there is area below the css where it says <!– header can go here–>  If there is no credit given to me on your template, all I ask for is a simple link somewhere saying that the design was based upon my template, and have it link to my blog.  If you need help with this, I will be willing to put it on your template for you.  You can easily view your template to check for these things by right clicking the page and choosing view page source.  If a no right click script was installed you can still view the page source (which a lot of people don’t realize. The no right click scripts do not work like you think they do) by hitting alt, view, and view page source.

Just Love Coffee

There are now more opportunities for us to fund raise!  Starting today, we are selling coffee through Just Love Coffee Roasters.  Who would have known the Telfer family could sell coffee!

Just Love Coffee Roasters

Just Love Coffee Roasters is a ministry that provides it’s customers with fair trade specialty coffee, while helping orphans find their forever families.  Just Love Coffee Roasters is helping our family, by allowing us to sell their coffee to raise adoption funds.   Their coffee looks wonderful!  They have a variety of different blends that are sure to please.  Come take a look at our site!  Buy some coffee, and support our adoption.  If you or someone you know is interested in buying coffee, we would appreciate it! If anyone would rather buy coffee in person rather than through the internet, that is possible as well.  Send me an email, and something can be worked out.  Feel free to retweet as well!

Learn New Testament Greek Today!

Calling all home schoolers!

Starting today, any donation (big or small!) given toward our adoption, will get you your own copy Read New Testament Greek Today, by Evonne Mandella from Wholesome Learning.

Evonne’s new method of learning languages such as Hebrew, Greek, and Russian, has made learning complex subjects easy and fun!  Many of us Christian home school families know the benefits of our children knowing languages like Hebrew and Greek.  Knowing about these languages will make it easier for our children to read and study God’s word.  And raising children to know God and His word is the backbone of our home schools.

Here is another way you could help us raise the necessary funds we need for our adoption, and get a fantastic thank you gift in return.

Puzzle Fundraiser ~ Sponsor a Puzzle Piece!

IMG00042-20090824-1409

I am thrilled to get this new fund raiser going!  I got this idea from some amazing families who are also going through the adoption process, and struggling to find funds.

This fund raiser, is one that will be fun for everyone who is involved.  Here is how it will work.

Everyone has the option to sponsor a puzzle piece (or pieces if you want. There is no limit!) for $5. Every time we get more sponsors, we as a family will build the puzzle.  I will take lots of pictures of the puzzle coming together and post them on my blog so everyone can see it being built! After you have your piece(s) sponsored, we will write your name on the back of the piece(s).  I will also include your name in my sidebar.  In the end, we will have a finished puzzle, with everyone’s names on the back that we can hang on the baby’s wall.  Our baby will always be reminded of all of you who cared and contributed to their being adopted into our family.  And of course when we get to that stage there WILL be more pictures!

If you would like to become a puzzle piece sponsor, you can either use the paypal button in my sidebar, or you can email me for other arrangements.   I will also include your name in my sidebar.  For those of you who are sponsoring puzzle pieces online, you are welcome to grab the puzzle pieces for adoption sponsor button and place it on your blog or website.  Spread the word!  Let everyone know that you are helping a child get into a loving home.

We are ready to get building!

Adoption update…and a fund raiser!

I haven’t updated this blog in awhile, so I thought I’d better get on the ball and catch everyone up on what has been happening with the adoption.

This month has been a whirlwind of stress and emotions.  We found out that because of the state of our economy, our home didn’t have enough equity in it for us to use for the adoption.  We found out that the only way we have to pay for the adoption, was to use our credit cards.   Out of this has come numerous ideas on how to fund raise.  We have been having garage sales, I have a friend who is going to help us by donating her proceeds from her Scentsy Sales, and I have a brand new puzzle piece fund raiser that is starting this week.

Today however, we received some wonderful news!  The agency we are working with, is now working with an agency that only charged Christian couples 13% of their yearly gross income, plus 2650.  That includes the legal fees!  This is definitely something we can afford.  So tomorrow, PLAN is mailing our profiles to this agency in Florida.

While we are waiting, we are continuing to do fund raisers for our adoption.  The main one that I am concentrating on is our puzzle piece fundraiser.  You can read about it here on my main blog. All of you can help us reach our financial goals, by sponsoring a puzzle piece.  You can come back to my blog, and see the puzzle coming together!  By the end of the fund raiser, we will glue the puzzle together, and hang it on the baby’s wall.  Our child will always be reminded of the all of the people who cared about them, and contributed to their being adopted into a loving home.

The main fundraiser will take place on my personal blog.  Please come by!  Subscribe to my blog so you can follow the puzzles completion!

You can also help me, by spreading the word about the puzzle.  You can grab this handy button, and place it on your blog or website.

Another exciting update!

Our home study was officially approved last week, and our family profiles are ready to be mailed out to agencies in Texas, Georgia, and Florida.  PLAN adoptions is waiting on us to nail down our financing before they send out our profiles.  It is an exciting place to be!  We would really appreciate your prayers.  The biggest prayer right now, is that our house would appraise high enough for us to squeeze out enough equity for an equity loan.  After this, the next step is picking up our new baby!  We are so excited to think that we could possibly have our new baby by Christmas.

I am still open for blog designs, if anyone is wanting to have their blog spruced up.  Email me at…  Ali@missionfielddesigns.com  if you are interested.   All donations of course go toward our adoption.

contests galore!

It must be that time of year for great contests.  I have seen so many really good ones, I can’t help but enter.

It all started last month when I entered the contest to win a pair of crocs.  And I won them!  This month I am trying as hard as I can to win a Dyson, a MacBook, and and itouch.   Last night I ran into yet another great contest, this time giving away a huge awesome waterslide bouncy house!  Like this…

sportssplashtwin5002

This one was my kids’ favorite on the Playhouse bouncers website.  You can enter the contest too!  Can you imagine the looks on your kids’ faces when you tell them you won one of these amazing water slides?

Win a Dyson!

I can only hope and pray that I am on a winning streak when it comes to these online blog contests.  I tried to win one of these Dyson DC25’s last year, and didn’t win.  So here I am trying again!

Here is what it looks like.

dyson dc25

It’s a beautiful thing!  Light weight, can turn easily so you can get to those hard to reach places, has incredible suction, and it has one of those hypo allergenic filters.  NICE!

You can have an opportunity to win this Dyson too, by visiting From Dates to Diapers and enter.

dysonrobotsMadeline’s drawing of Dyson DC-25 Transformers.   So cute!  They even plug into the wall.
